Cornerstone Projects commenced business in 1973 as a Sole Proprietor doing small alterations. It then expanded to build complete new houses. Houses were built in Naturena (80), Mulbarton, Glenvista, Oakdene, Meyersdal, New Redruth, Kibler Park, Ridgeway Cluster Houses, covering the entire South of Johannesburg, including a number of speculation properties in Forest Hill, Kenilworth, Aspen Hills, Kibler Park, New Redruth and Meyersdal areas. We have carried out alterations, large and small in the entire Gauteng area from Laezonia to Springs and Midrand to Eikenhof, including a printing company in Booysens, The Baron and restaurants in Meyersdal Mall and Jumbo Press in Germiston. During this time the market expanded for kitchen and bathroom renovations and we completed a large number of both to the satisfaction of the clients. All of the above work has been generated by word of mouth. In the late 1980’s we did a large alteration in Boskruin and remained in the area on other projects for 6 years. In recent years we have done all the building work for the Salvation Army, including 5 complete houses in Stanger, Alberton area, Mabopane, Ngwenyeni and Sambandou. We also worked with the Durban Architects, Uwe Potter, on a large bathroom and plumbing alteration and addition in Durban. We have painted complexes in Scottburgh and Winchester Hills, and have also carried out vast plumbing and reticulation work to complexes, specifically in Durban and Scottburgh. We have also developed properties in New Redruth (2 complexes), Alberton North (18 units) and Kibler Park (36 clusters). We have completed commercial building of Meyersdal Square shopping centre consisting of 23 shops including Woolworths, Debonairs, Nino’s, Late Night Video and The Fishmonger, as well as City Funeral’s new office complex, and Nando’s Meyersdal. We also find that maintenance work generates larger work and have been busy with rectification work in Dainfern, Bedfordview and Bruma rectifying other Contractors’ defective work. We developed and completed the entire project of the prestigious Waterstone College (private school) in Kibler Park. (R56 000 000.00). We have completed twelve houses in Eye of Africa Golf Estate and are busy with 37 houses ready for, and under construction, in the same development.
